Wood heat treatment technology
Heat treatment technology for thermo-modified wood
Thermo-modified wood is a material that has been treated at high temperature, changing its properties and appearance. The process consists of reducing the moisture level in the material to minimum parameters and changing its structure without damaging the fibers. As a result of the treatment, the wood gets the necessary physical properties and attractive appearance.
Heat treatment technology was invented and used in Europe in the late 19th century, and then improved in the second half of the 20th century. It is used as a finishing and building material due to its ecological purity that does not cause allergic reactions. No chemicals are used for heat treatment, only physical effects.
There are several wood heat treatment technologies that are used by manufacturers around the world. Each technology has its own peculiarities, efficiency and profitability. Our company "Termolesprom" has studied the experience of leading manufacturers and developed its own technology of heat-treated wood production, based on an innovative Thermal Modification Kilns. This technology allows to process absolutely any species and varieties of wood.In conclusion, heat-treated wood is an environmentally friendly, attractive and versatile material that can be used both in residential and commercial premises, as well as in the exterior decoration of buildings and outdoors.
Our company offers its own unique technology of thermo-wood production, which ensures high quality and competitiveness in the market

Heat treatment technology
Existing methods of wood heat treatment differ from each other depending on heating methods, duration of the heat treatment process and initial moisture content of the raw material intended for heat treatment. The method developed by Thermolesprom uses induction heating method, which ensures uniform heating of the wood placed in the Thermal Modification Kilns, as the temperature is the same at any point of the Kilns.
The wood is thermo-modified at temperatures between 140 and 200 degrees Celsius under pressure.
This all has the following advantages:
Raw materials with a moisture content of up to 15% can be loaded for heat treatment.
100 kilowatts of electricity are required to process 1 cubic meter of material.
The heat treatment process takes from 24 to 36 hours depending on the set parameters
The heat treatment process is fully automated and does not require an operator.
The height of the row between the liners is 150 mm, and the boards in the row are stacked close to each other to maximize the volume of the chamber.
It is possible to thermo-thermize a 300x300 section of timber
The Thermal Modification Kilns has a drying mode for soft wood with subsequent heat treatment. The cycle lasts on average 5 days.
Induction heating method allows to carry out the process of thermizing in a softer mode, which makes the thermo wood more dense, plastic and without internal breaks. This allows quality treatment of species such as elm, pine, larch, birch, ash, oak, beech, aspen and birch.
Thus, the KIT series Thermal Modification Kilns can produce high quality thermo-wood of any wood species with minimal energy consumption.

Thermal Modification Kiln of KIT series
Thermolesprom has developed wood heat treatment equipment, which represents an innovation in the field of wood processing. Unlike analogs, the equipment has low cost, simple operation, reliability and high quality of material.
Advantages of wood heat treatment technology of our production in the Thermal Modification Kiln:
Simplicity of operation
Use of raw materials with transport humidity
Duration of heat treatment is only 24-36 hours, depending on the type of wood and the set parameters
Possibility of thermo-modification of 300x300 cross-section timber
Low costs for the thermoforming process. Electricity costs 100 kW per 1 m3 of thermoformed lumber
Besides, the chambers produced by Thermolesprom Company do not require additional costs for thermo-modification process, unlike foreign and Russian analogs. Only electricity! When starting the thermo-camera the operator sets the parameters of the heat treatment process on the control cabinet depending on the species, initial moisture content and the required result. The thermo-treatment process itself and shutdown of the chamber are automatic.
The control system is based on Owen microprocessor controllers. The operation of the Thermal Modification Kiln can be controlled remotely using the Owen application.By adjusting the temperature and curing time in the thermal chamber, it is possible to obtain a range of wood shades from light beige to dark brown. This makes the material suitable for all requirements. The result of heat treatment is high quality heat treated wood with a beautiful texture and rich color. Such wood is successfully used inside and outside buildings, for making doors, windows, furniture. Heat-treated wood perfectly copes with all temperature fluctuations, high humidity and any weather conditions.
